Dog fighting is a type of blood sport generally defined as opposing two game dogs against one another in a ring or a pit for the entertainment of the spectators or the gratification of the dogfighters, who are sometimes referred to as dogmen. Virgin Islands Criminal Code Title 19 Sub Sec 2613a states that anyone who promotes, stages, advertises or witnesses dogfighting as a spectator shall be guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than two years and fines. On May 16, 2017 at about 1:00 pm St. Thomas police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Smith Bay. Upon arrival they discovered a male in a truck lifeless. The victim was identified as Alldix Callwood, age 35. Mr. Callwood received several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene.
